Grief Literacy & Educator Path
Weekly Curriculum
Â
TRACK 1 — Grief Literacy Foundations
A gentle, powerful introduction to understanding grief the way humans actually experience it.
WEEK 1 — Understanding Grief as a Human Experience
Grief is not a pathology — it’s a natural adaptive response.
In our first week, you’ll learn how grief functions emotionally, cognitively, and socially, and why no two grief journeys look the same. We explore the myths that keep people stuck and begin building a grounded language of grief that restores dignity and clarity.
(From Module 1)
WEEK 2 — The Nervous System in Grief
This week brings the body into the conversation.
You’ll learn how the nervous system responds to loss, why grief feels overwhelming or “too much,” and how somatic patterns like shutting down, agitation, or emotional swings are normal physiological processes. Gentle grounding practices help you stabilize and stay connected.
(From Module 2)
WEEK 3 — Story, Identity & the Shaping of Loss
Loss doesn’t just affect our hearts — it changes who we understand ourselves to be.
This week explores the rupture of identity that comes with grief, the stories we tell ourselves, and how meaning, memory, and identity reorganize over time.
(From Module 3)
WEEK 4 — Cultural & Spiritual Pathways of Grief
Grief is not universal — it is cultural.
We look at how identity, upbringing, spiritual beliefs, and cultural norms shape the way people express, process, and honour grief. This week widens your understanding of what “normal” grief looks like in diverse communities and teaches cultural humility in practice.
(From Module 4)
WEEK 5 — Meaning-Making, Growth & Transformation
Grief often changes our values, perspectives, and sense of what matters.
This week explores meaning-making, post-traumatic growth (without bypassing), identity reconstruction, and the ways grief reshapes a life from the inside out.
(From Module 5)
WEEK 6 — Integration, Ritual & the Ongoing Relationship with Loss
Grief isn’t something we “get over.”
This week offers practical ways to integrate grief into your life — through somatic practices, ritual, reflection, and meaning-making — so you can carry your loss with greater steadiness and clarity.
(From Module 6)
Optional Integration (Self-Guided)
After the 6 live weeks, you’ll receive a reflection exercise or ritual to support integration.
There is no class this week, and this space is ideal for those who are deciding whether to continue into Track 2.
Â
TRACK 2 — Grief Educator Path
A professional pathway for those ready to teach, guide, and hold space for others.
WEEK 8 — Foundations of Grief Facilitation
Now that you understand grief deeply, we begin the work of becoming an educator.
This week introduces educator presence, attunement, emotional pacing, boundaries, and scope — the core pillars of ethical grief education.
(From Module 7)
WEEK 9 — Ethics, Boundaries & Cultural Humility
This work requires clarity, steadiness, and responsibility.
You’ll learn how to protect the container, prevent harm, navigate power dynamics, avoid therapeutic drift, and uphold cultural humility in diverse settings.
(From Module 8)
WEEK 10 — Advanced Narrative Work
You’ll learn how to guide people through meaning-making and identity reconstruction without slipping into therapy.
This module teaches narrative pacing, language choices, safety protocols, and how to support story exploration with steadiness and skill.
(From Module 9)
WEEK 11 — Group Facilitation Mastery
One of the most important skills for a grief educator.
This week trains you to read group energy, manage overwhelm, redirect safely, include quieter voices, and uphold group agreements — all while maintaining a grounded, neutral presence.
(From Module 10)
WEEK 12 — Teaching Methods, Lesson Flow & Accessibility
You’ll learn how to teach grief concepts clearly, confidently, and safely.
We cover adult learning principles, pacing, structuring lessons, using slides, accessibility, and inclusive teaching methods that support diverse learners.
(From Module 11)
WEEK 13 — Capstone Integration & Educator Identity
Your final week brings everything together.
You’ll define your educator identity, name your strengths and growth edges, reaffirm your ethical foundation, and create a personal development plan for stepping into your role as a grief educator.
(From Module 12)
Optional Capstone Integration (Self-Guided)
A final reflection and educator readiness exercise to help you consolidate your learning.
No live class — just a supported pause to close the journey.
