The Birth of âThis Humanâ
âThis Humanâ is a series that explores what it means to be human in the moments that matter most.
It began as a way to bring real, often unspoken parts of life into open conversationâespecially those that emerge at the end of life.
As people face dying, grief, and change, the need for understanding, presence, and connection becomes clear.
âThis Humanâ creates space for these realities to be seen, spoken about, and shared.
What âThis Humanâ Holds
âThis Humanâ brings the experience of end of life into grounded, human conversation.
It explores:
- what happens as life comes to an end
- how people experience grief before and after loss
- how we show up for others in vulnerable moments
- how we make sense of change, loss, and meaning
These conversations are rooted in real experience and offered in a way that supports understanding, reflection, and presence.
âThis Humanâ Experience
âThis Human Experienceâ is a live, open-access series where people come together to explore these realities in community.
It is a space to:
listen, learn and reflect,
and begin to understand what it means to be present with life as it changes
Each session invites people into conversations that are often avoided, yet deeply human.
A Wider Human Context
While this space focuses on end of life, it is part of a larger human experience.
Across a lifetime, people move through connection, relationship, change, loss, and meaning-making.
CSPE holds the portion of this experience that relates to end of lifeâsupporting individuals, families, and communities in building the capacity to meet these moments with steadiness and care.
A Different Kind of Preparation
This is a way of preparing for moments that every human will encounter.
It is about building understanding and capacity before these experiences arrive, so people can meet them with greater presence, awareness, and care.
It is about learning how to be with one another in the moments that matter most.
The Role of CSPE
Within âThis Humanâ, CSPE offers education focused on end of life, grief, and presence.
It provides a structured, non-medical approach to understanding these experiences, while remaining grounded in the human realities people face every day.
One Human Experience
The same human capacities that shape how people liveâconnection, emotion, and relationshipâare the ones that shape how people meet death, grief, and one another at the end of life.
âThis Humanâ holds all of it as part of one continuous experience.
