A new season of learning at CSPE

This fall, CSPE is offering focused live online courses, free community webinars and Track 1 Grief Literacy Training.

Our longer professional education programs remain in development as we continue strengthening their structure, scope and educational foundations.

Live Online Courses for Real Questions at the End of Life

When someone may be dying, the questions are rarely simple. Families may be trying to understand changes in the body, carry the history of a complicated relationship, or stay connected while everyone responds differently.

These focused two-part courses offer thoughtful, practical education for experiences people often find themselves facing without preparation.

Is This Dying?

Understanding What Happens as the Body Begins to Change

How can we recognize when a person may be approaching the end of life? Explore common physical and behavioral changes, what they may mean, what families may notice, and how to respond with greater understanding and steadiness.

When Someone Is Dying and the Relationship Was Complicated

Dying does not erase the history of a relationship. This course makes room for love, hurt, distance, anger, guilt, estrangement, and unfinished feelings—and explores how we might accompany someone without pretending the relationship was different from what it was.

How Can We Get Along When Someone We Love Is Dying?

Families do not always agree about what is happening, what should be done, or how grief should look. Explore differing coping styles, changing family roles, communication under stress, and ways of keeping the needs of the dying person in view while navigating the needs of everyone involved.

Each course includes two live online sessions. No previous education or professional experience is required. Family members, friends, caregivers, volunteers, doulas, and helping professionals are all welcome.

Recordings will remain available for seven days following the second session.

Wednesday Webinars

Free Public Learning at Noon

Some of the most important questions about caregiving, dying, death, and grief arise long before we know where to take them.

Wednesday Webinars are free, one-hour online gatherings that make room for honest questions, thoughtful education, and experiences that are often difficult to speak about. No previous knowledge or professional experience is required.

What If Part of Me Just Wants This to Be Over?

Caring about someone does not prevent exhaustion, frustration, or the quiet wish for an unbearable situation to end. We will explore what these thoughts may be expressing and how they can coexist with love, care, and grief.

What If Forgiveness Doesn't Come Before Good-bye?

The approach of death can create pressure to reconcile, forgive, or bring a relationship to a peaceful conclusion. We will explore what forgiveness can and cannot mean, why dying does not erase harm, and how someone might remain caring without abandoning their own truth or boundaries.
